Mountain Regional Library System (in a nutshell) ….
The Mountain Regional Library System maintains and operates four public libraries located in the Georgia counties of Fannin, Towns and Union. The libraries are located in the towns of Hiawassee, Young Harris, Blairsville and Blue Ridge, Georgia.
Our goal is to offer a wide variety of library services to all citizens of the participating counties that meet their informational, educational, and recreational needs. We are committed to free and equitable access to library services for all, lifelong learning the enjoyment of reading. MRLS will always serve in a thorough, impartial and confidential manner to all patrons.
With funding from local governments, the Georgia Public Library Service, and local chapters of Friends of the Library, MRLS will continue to offer services focused on meeting our communities’ needs. Each year, the library system typically welcomes more than 150,000 visitors, checks out over 250,000 items, answers in excess of 50,000 questions, registers more than 50,000 computer sessions, and presents over 500 programs in Fannin, Towns, and Union Counties.
MRLS’s return on investment is estimated to be a 2/1 ROI year over year. The library system operating budget is @ $1.5 million and returns over $3.0 million in value and services back into our communities.
